We visualize a future where we are all able to live in an equitable, just, inclusive, accessible, better world and no one is left behind.
Welcome back to Now What? Hosted by myself JR - the podcast where we walk side by side into the future, one step, one breath, one connection at a time.
Now What? Hosted by JR is rooted in kindness, encouragement, and a deep commitment to humanity.
Some Housekeeping
Thanks for being here! I want to apologize that my podcast episodes and articles are not as consistent as I would like, because we are dealing with family health issues.
I am going to start doing 1 minute daily Mini Moments.
For the first week they will be free and then they will become a perk for my paid Community Builders.
Both my Newsletter and Podcast are supported by people like you.
We would love you to Become a Community Builder
Today instead of our usual breathing exercise we are going to take a moment to just sit quietly with our eyes closed.
Breathe slowly in and out
Cross your arms over your chest and move your hands slowly down your arms
Do this 10 times
Take a deep breathe in and let it all out
Slowly open your eyes
Your mindset is contagious-Upgrading our thoughts to build a better future for all
Today we are talking about the fact that our mindset isn’t just private
It’s contagious
Your mindset ripple
We often think our thoughts stay in our own heads, but they don’t
The way you speak to yourself… changes how you speak to others
The way you meet your own fear or self-doubt… shapes how others feel
The other day I was in a grocery store lineup, and I noticed the checkout person. She looked frazzled. I just smiled and said, ‘You’ve got this.’ She stopped, breathed, and smiled back. A simple mindset shift from pressure to presence passed between us in a moment.
This is how mindset ripples work, they spread
Your energy, presence, and expectations
All of it creates a kind of invisible permission for the people around you
Think about it .... we have all been in a room that feels heavy. Someone walks in radiating energy and acceptance. The whole room’s energy changes. Their mindset lifts everyone up.
Impact Possibilities
The potential to make the world a better place for everyone starts with us right where we are, in our kitchens, our inboxes, in the office and at home.
In how we talk to ourselves when we get something wrong.
It doesn’t mean being perfect.
It means being intentional.
Choosing kindness, curiosity and compassion, especially when it's hard.
Let's face it – right now it’s hard. The world feels overwhelming. So much sadness and change. It can feel like we are in quicksand. Frozen, not wanting to move as we have no idea what’s going to happen next.
This is exactly why we should be conscious of our mindset.
Are we full of hope, or despair?
It doesn’t mean walking around with a grin on our faces, it means choosing our thoughts carefully. Being aware of the impact we are having not only on ourselves but those around us.
Another important factor is to be grounded. My Faith grounds me.
What grounds you?
Technology, specifically AI can make us feel like we are falling behind. But, remember to pause and think about when you were learning a new language. It didn’t happen in a day, it took time. Learning to communicate with AI is like learning a new language. You can intentionally work on one part each day.
Let me share a little about how I see the world
Before us stretches the possibility of creating the kind of world we want to live and work and play in. We can start right where we are.
We aren’t going to change the world in a day, but like a pebble thrown in a pond, our hope filled impact ripples can spread.
Think about one drop of water it seems insignificant, but over time it can join other drops of water and together they can carve a canyon through a mountain.
Of course, I realize that we are not all the same.
I might be an orange, and you might be an apple, different, but all fruit.
All human beings.
We don’t need to match to matter to each other.
We need to see each other for who we are.
And we need to stop comparing and start connecting.
Being intentional about our mindsets.
We won’t change overnight
But, here is my invitation to you today
Notice your mindset
Not with judgment
But with curiosity
What are you broadcasting to the world around you ... without even realizing it?
Could your tone soften just a bit?
Could your inner voice offer a little more grace?
Could you let someone be an apple without trying to turn them into an orange?
Wrap
The world doesn’t change because one person gets louder.
It changes because more people start thinking and acting differently.
AND
it starts right here with your next thought
Prompt
What’s one small mindset shift you could make today that would ripple outward in a positive way?
